Orthodontics technology has evolved tremendously since it was first introduced and metal braces are no longer the only option on the market. Modern orthodontic braces are smaller and more comfortable than ever, and can correct teeth in a shorter treatment time.
One of the latest developments in modern orthodontics is the use of aligners that are removable. Aligners are removed before eating and brushing. An aligner is only worn for a two-week period before it is switched for a new aligner.
What You Can Expect | The Pathway to Perfect Teeth
You will need a few consultations with your friendly Point Cook dentist. You can typically expect the following sequence of events:
An initial consultation will be conducted where your needs, and the benefits of the orthodontics treatment will be discussed. Once your dentist has performed an assessment, x-rays and moulds of your teeth will be taken.
You will review your x-rays with your dentist and discuss your treatment options. It is possible that permanent teeth may need to be extracted to make space for your teeth to adjust to their new positions.
After you’ve selected a treatment plan your dentist will start installing your braces. This starts with separators or temporary bands being placed between your molars. A week later thy will be replaced with permanent bands and wires and brackets will be installed.
Once this is done you can expect a follow up appointment every six to eight weeks. Your dentist will have a look at how your teeth are shifting into place and will make the necessary tightening adjustments.
